Sire
Senator VDL
Senator VDL was bred at the world famous VDL Stud in Holland. On both sides of his family, he has very potent jumping blood: Corland, Cor de la Bryere, Landgraf, Voltaire and Nimmerdor.
Senator VDL is producing foals with correct conformation, lovely heads and a strong topline and hindquaters. The progeny out competing are scopey and careful, both in showjumping and eventing. Senator VDL is sire of the top New Zealand eventing horse, Balmoral Sensation, who was placed 5th at the Badminton Horse Trials 2016 and 6th at the Rio Olympics.
Senator VDL had multiple wins and placings throughout his jumping career including winning the Norwood Gold Cup at the Horse of the Year Show. He competed through to when he was an 9yo, when he was retired due to injury.
Senator VDL has an enviable pedigree on both sides of his family. His dam is Falonie by Voltaire (Team Nijhof) out of a Nimmerdor mare. She is the sister of two international showjumpers Charly and Gyltaire. Gyltaire, also by Voltaire, a full relation to Falonie, was ridden internationally by Michael Whitaker.
Senator VDL’s dam, grand dam and great grand dam are all “keur” mares. Keur is a very high ranking predicate that is only awarded to quality mares that have produced satisfactory offspring and have passed selection performance tests. On his dam’s side, he has the famous sires, Voltaire and Nimmerdor which are preferent stallions. A very high honor for sires that are bestowed as famous progenitors.
Sire Corland was bred from two of the most influential sires in global jumper breeding: The French stallion Cor de la Bryere and the Holstein stallion Landgraf I. He descends from the famous Holstein dam-line 104a, this lineage has produced numerous stallions and International sport horses. He had lots of influence in breeding based at VDL Stud in the Netherlands and was one of their top breeding stallions.
Dam
MEEKA - Foundation Mare
Meeka has the size, elevated movement, TB blood and temperament that we look for in a dam to be. She produced three talented youngsters, WV Double Shot (see broodmare page), WV Maximus & WV Molly. All three we have high hopes for. Now retired to nanny work. In her younger day competed level 3 Dressage and 1.05 jumping. We anticipate her offspring going much further.
WVE Maximus
Being a rangy horse he has been brought on slowly. Really finding his groove in life now, athletic on the flat, showing scope over his fences. He really wants to please his rider. Currently competing 105cm show jumping and ready to step up.
